THE SAFARI COLLECTION
ENCOMPASSING KENYA'S PROTECTED PLACES
A country of diverse landscapes and rich culture, Kenya captivates and enthrals. Here, distinct environments and rugged vistas whisper their ancient secrets to the soul. This is Africa.
Founded in 2009 by fourth-generation Kenyans, Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley and their good friend Michiel Hoogerwerf, The Safari Collection was born of an inherited pioneering spirit. Driven by an ethos to be low impact and community and conservation orientated while having a significant positive influence on Kenya’s wilderness and people, The Safari Collection supports development through a few carefully chosen projects. These address the primary causes of wildlife decline and the fundamental needs of the surrounding communities.
SUSPENDED IN MID-AIR
Coming to East Africa feels like coming home. It was not far from here that our early ancestors took the first steps in their journey beyond the savannah to all four corners of our planet.
Nicky Fitzgerald and her late husband, Steve, are renowned for their involvement in some of the world’s finest safari lodges across Africa and India and they kept the best for last. The beauty of this site birthed the remarkable Angama Mara, which was founded on the principle of delighting their guests whilst running a profitable business in order to make many meaningful and sustainable differences to the lodge’s neighbouring communities and the Mara Conservancy.
